Hancock is challenged to work in a department store for a week without being rude to any customers.
A film director, looking for 'realism' by hiring non-professional actors, gives Hancock a part in a film. Instead of realism, he gets incompetence.
Hancock is convinced that he has seen a spy. He reports to MI5, who 'enrol' him, just to keep him quiet.
After watching a master carpenter on TV, Hancock is convinced that he can do as well - and offers his services to an acquaintance.
After a heavy night's drinking, Hancock wakes up in a hotel suite - with a crowd of strangers as his guests.
Hancock persuades a TV comic to fire his writer and hire him; and then retires to his room to try and think of a few jokes.
