In the 1950s, Spanish actress Sara Montiel takes on Hollywood, finding fame as her country's first international star.

Sara's unconventional personal life sparks controversy in conservative Spanish society when she chooses to adopt two children. In the 1980s, Sara helps forge a more sexually liberated Spain through her work on stage and screen.

In the 1990s and 2000s, Sara reinvents herself as a pop star, but her marriage to a younger fan draws criticism from the tabloids and her children.
