A year and a half after August's death, the Krogh family is trying to find their way back to everyday life - each with completely different strategies. Emilie has distanced herself from the church and decided that her and August's little son should be named. This doesn't exactly excite Johannes, because in the Krogh family, people are baptized. At the same time, August's old church is facing closure. This arouses extra emotions in Johannes, who feels that the church is the only thing left after August.

Elisabeth seeks out a clairvoyant in the hope of making contact with August. At the same time, she is strenuously trying to get John to talk about August; but what she does not know is that John is heading down a self-destructive and dangerous path that could have serious consequences. Emilie, too, must consider the consequences as one of her patients asks her for help to take her own life.

The sale of Brovang Church is a stirring up a stir around Lindegård. For John, God has never been further away, which worries Sweyn, who has also noticed how John's passion has disappeared. At Christian and Amira, the festivities take an unexpected turn when Amira's daughter Safiyah is suddenly injured.

Svend has relapses in his drug abuse and does not want help. John and Elisabeth insist on stepping in as they can see how serious it is. Christian gives his biggest lecture so far for a full hall of top executives and employees. But during the lecture he goes too far and gets an employee to cross his own limits.

Elisabeth takes a skeptical John to his clairvoyant. Here she gets a message that's going to turn her own life upside down. At the same time, Johannes and Elisabeth have opened the church for the homeless, who are missing a place to sleep. It does not exactly arouse enthusiasm at Nete, who is very much against the project.

Amira and Walid disagree on the upbringing of their daughter Safiyah. It affects Safiyah more than they know. John is happy to be a grandfather to little Anton, and it makes him do something unthought out that could have major consequences for him. And then the Krogh family will meet Emilie's new boyfriend, Daniel, August's old psychiatrist for the first time.

Christian struggles with writing his final thesis at the theology study and must realize that he will need help. In August's old diary from theology study, he looks for inspiration, but here he finds written thoughts about something completely different, which August has never told to anyone.

Christian finds August's papers from his broadcast as a chaplain. It sends him on a journey back to the time after August's death. Because in the papers he finds something he wished they had all known then.

Christian has gone to Jerusalem to search for the place where August wanted his ashes buried. During a conversation with the bishop, John must seriously realize that Anton’s baptism has great consequences. Consequences that mean irrevocable changes for the whole Krogh family.
