Yoshioka Yuiko comienza el primer grado en el instituto. Ella se enferma por el frío y se queda en la cama. En ese momento, ella recibe una llamada telefónica del presidente de la clase Matsubara. Yuiko queda agitaba por su amable voz en el teléfono. Al día siguiente, ella va a la escuela y se reúne Matsubara. Él es un chico misterioso, que llevaba una bolsa de papel sobre su cabeza. Sus días de escolares comienzan con un corazón palpitante.

School president Makoto Hyodo tells Matsubara to take the paper bag off his head, as he is violating school rules. But he insists that he cannot do what he is told.

Yuiko happens to see Midorikawa Reina and Matsubara behaving differently towards each other, which makes her heart ache with jealousy.

Reina sees Yuiko and Matsubara talking on the school rooftop and is afraid that the boy might have feelings for the other girl. After confronting Hyodo, she decides to confess her feelings to Matsubara.

When Yuiko musters the courage to give Matsubara a homemade lunch, she discovers that he and Reina are dating. Meanwhile, Yuiko receives a love confession from Hyodo.

When Yuiko catches a cold again, she is surprised to see Matsubara in her living room, who had come to visit her out of concern. Later, Hyodo invites Yuiko to see the play in which he plays a prince.

Yuiko is afraid that she won't be able to get to the festival on time, but Matsubara comes to her rescue. When Hyodo sees Yuiko watching his performance, he starts to panic.

There is a rumor going around the school that Hyodo confessed his love to Yuiko in the middle of the festival. Matsubara, who heard the rumor, freaks out.

Yuiko goes to Matsubara's house, who is sick. However, the door is opened by Kaori, his childhood friend. Meanwhile, Aki is left heartbroken when she sees her love interest, Kyoshiro, with an alleged girlfriend.

Yuiko becomes jealous when she finds out that Kaori saw Matsubara's face under the paper bag. She then puts distance between herself and the boy of her dreams. Aki and Yuichi decide to help the two get along again.

During the winter break, Yuiko and Hyodo go to the shrine to pray. There, they meet Matsubara and Kaori, who have had the same thought as them. Their meeting is full of awkwardness, even when their paths diverge.
