When discos took over the dance floors in the 70s, the death of live music in Sweden was predicted. But the fact is that some of the disc jockeys who were at the turntables were the ones who would lay the foundation for the current Swedish songwriting phenomenon. Without the formation of the DJ collective Swemix in 1986, artists like Dr Alban, Ace of Base, Britney Spears and Backstreet Boys would not have become the world stars they became. It was also the starting point and nursery for songwriters like Denniz Pop, Max Martin, Andreas Carlsson and others. Songwriters who achieved chart success that only Benny Andersson, Björn Ulveaus and Per Gessle had achieved before. In part 3 we talk about Dr Alban, Denniz Pop, Ace of Base, Max Martin, Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, Rob ’n’ Raz and others.
