Wilfried and Paula Sterckx run a brasserie together. Wilfried enjoys the contact with his regulars, while Paula is already dreaming of their approaching retirement. Chris is their eldest son and married to Lydia. He works as a lawyer in his father-in-law's firm. Becca is the eldest daughter and single mother of Dora. Nicky Sterckx is the youngest child in the family. She studies at university and leads a carefree life. At little Dora's birthday party, the entire family fills out a lottery ticket. None of them suspects that this will drastically change their lives...

The family collects the money at the lottery office. The family members are advised to keep their winnings a secret from the outside world. Now that Chris is walking around with a secret of his own, the lottery win means little to him. He is conflicted and doesn't know what to do with himself. Becca quits her office job. Her friend Lisa thinks Becca is having financial trouble and wants to help her. As a brand-new euro millionaire, Nicky can finally realize her big dream: moving into her own student room. Paula also wants to enjoy the money. She already pictures herself and Wilfried living in a beautiful Spanish cottage, but Wilfried doesn't want to make any hasty decisions.

Wilfried en Paula zijn aangekomen in Spanje. Paula geniet met volle teugen van hun verblijf, maar Wilfried kan zijn brasserie maar moeilijk loslaten. Nicky krijgt problemen met haar kotbaas. Ze verdenkt hem ervan dat hij haar wil lastigvallen. Chris krijgt het resultaat van zijn medische test en vlucht weg in zijn werk. Nu Becca haar vriendin Lisa over de lottowinst heeft verteld, maakt Lisa enthousiast plannen voor hen tweeën.

Nicky heeft met een deel van haar lottogeld een nieuwe auto gekocht. Alleen het rijden zelf lukt nog niet zo goed. Becca leert een leuke man kennen, Joris. Het klikt, maar ze wil zeker zijn dat Joris haar aardig vindt om wie ze is. Ze besluit daarom te liegen over haar financiële situatie. Wilfried is blij dat hij opnieuw in zijn brasserie is. Paula heeft het moeilijk; voor haar is er meer in het leven dan werken alleen. Chris beseft dat hij geen kant meer op kan en dat het dringend tijd wordt om zijn geheim aan Lydia op te biechten...

Becca verhuist samen met Joris naar het appartement boven haar winkel. De nieuwe gezinssituatie en het geld zorgen al meteen voor spanningen binnen hun prille relatie. Nicky beseft dat ze Sams moeder de waarheid over het ongeluk moet vertellen, maar dat is moeilijker dan gedacht. Wilfried kan Paula’s beslissing om alleen naar Spanje te gaan maar moeilijk begrijpen. Hij zet Chris onder druk om een goed woordje te doen voor hem. Chris gebruikt de ruzie tussen zijn ouders als excuus om ook naar Spanje te vertrekken. Weg van Lydia en de ravage die hij achterlaat.

Terwijl Becca haar winkel klaarstoomt voor de opening, wordt ze geconfronteerd met Joris' ex-liefje Babs. Becca vindt haar opdringerig, maar Joris ziet het probleem niet. Chris is terug in België en neemt zijn intrek in een hotel, op een veilige afstand van Lydia. Schoonvader Ludo bemoeit zich met de situatie. Nicky probeert intussen verder te gaan met haar leven en het voorval met Sam te vergeten. Haar schuldgevoel blijft echter knagen. Wilfried besluit Paula te verrassen in Spanje, maar botst zelf op een heel onaangename verrassing...
