In a near-future United States, an autocratic president signs a federal deportation order targeting immigrants. California responds by proclaiming itself a sanctuary state, sparking open rebellion, martial law, and a federal military siege of Los Angeles. Two young people—Jamil, a 25-year-old courier and smuggler, and Zora, a 27-year-old leader in the Mulholland Resistance—try to escape Occupied Los Angeles while pursued by nationalist Homeland Security enforcers.
