A bloodthirsty monster haunts the forest surrounding an Indian reservation. While investigators grapple with unfamiliar customs, Fortier tries to understand the parallel universe of a very particular culture.

With her back against the wall, Anne Fortier takes a desperate gamble and decides to direct the investigation deep into the forest. The longer it goes on, the less likely it becomes that her missing colleague will be found safe and sound.
