Soline Plassin, commander of the gendarmerie, is a native of Mons. The mother of a young man who went to study in Paris, she enjoyed a full life and took care of her widowed mother. Flanked by a new deputy, Adam Tudoret, she is called to a chilling crime scene: the body of a man in his sixties has been immersed in a spring reputed to be miraculous, like hundreds of them in the Landes department. A crime with an esoteric and incomprehensible staging: the victim was a market gardener with no history. While the two gendarmes were searching the victim's farm, they surprised an individual. The duo discovers that the intruder is none other than... Soline's older sister, Aurore Plassin, just out of prison!

In Tourtoirac, a small town in the Périgord, Isabelle Maurin, crowned Queen of Araucania, is found decapitated in the gardens of the castle she had just inherited. Emma Lambert, a young police lieutenant from Bordeaux, is sent to lead the investigation alongside Sacha Besson, a local gendarmerie lieutenant...

Near the Millau viaduct, the body of Paul Gasteuil was discovered wearing a devil's mask. This strange staging seems to be linked to the legend of Sainte-Enimie and intrigues Alice Nerval, captain of the Millau gendarmerie in charge of the investigation. In order to unravel the thread of this crime, Alice agrees to team up with Adrien Nerval, her father-in-law, who was also a captain who had been fired six months earlier for personal problems... The situation is all the more tense since Adrien has not had any contact for years with his son Jérémy ... who would be furious if he found out who his wife's new colleague was. Will Alice be able to navigate between this particularly complex investigation and an explosive family situation?

The skipper of a flotilla of trawlers from Concarneau is found murdered under the ramparts of the city with the message "Traitour Ha!" on his chest. Some time later, it was Erwan Benek, a bar owner and well-known bomb player, who was found murdered in the alleys of the city with the message "Mallozh dit 'ta" on his forehead. These two texts, taken from the Breton song Marv Pontkalleg, refer to a betrayal. The investigation led by Gabriel Rivière, captain of the judicial police of Quimper, and Magali Morvan, the officer of the Concarneau gendarmerie, put them on the trail of the PBL, a Breton independence movement dissolved in 2004 after an attack gone wrong.

Commissioner Emma Colonna returns to Corsica for the first anniversary of the death of her husband, a native of the island. This introspective journey quickly takes a dramatic turn when the first body is found hanging on the ramparts of Calvi. The staging is strangely reminiscent of an old island legend, that of "L'Impiccatu". With the help of her local deputy, Warrant Officer Christophe Lemestre, Emma must navigate between her painful past and the complex investigation that lies ahead. Together, the duo of investigators must thwart the unspoken words of the population, the tensions between clans and the political pressures, because each new murder seems to be linked to a troubled past that many would prefer to forget. For Emma, the case of the hanged men becomes much more than a simple police investigation: it is a personal quest for the truth, which forces her to confront devastating revelations about her own past and those she thought she knew...
