In his long-term observation, the documentary filmmaker Aljoscha Pause accompanies Roland Meyer de Voltaire in his uncompromising attempt to realize his dream of music, and asks the central questions of success and failure. In December 2005, the legendary music magazine Rolling Stone declared the highly talented musician and front man Roland Meyer de Voltaire and his band Voltaire, next to the Arctic Monkeys, the “most beautiful prospect of 2006”. More advance praise followed, a big record deal with Universal and, in the end, a terrific failure. The head of the band suffers financial and mental shipwreck and is left with nothing. When he decides to give up his apartment and live without a permanent home, things start moving again. With new songs and a new name he dares a new beginning as SCHWARZ

Roland moves from Cologne to Berlin. There he works with the rapper Megaloh on his new album. Couch-hopping is becoming part of everyday life for him and he subordinates everything to his goal: found a new band and find sponsors for his music.

Roland finally finds a permanent place to stay as a tenant for pop singer Alina. A management or a record deal are not yet in sight. After a few setbacks, he is working meticulously to finally be able to perform live again.

With new partners, Roland's musical future is taking shape. He now calls himself SCHWARZ and the plans for the next career steps are suddenly in full swing. With “Home” he succeeds in a song that gives rise to high hopes.

Roland works with the established pop musicians Enno Bunger and Schiller on their new albums. But it remains his big goal to finish his own record and thus finally find his place in the music business and in life.
