Embalmed bodies of girls are found in St. Petersburg. Profiler Volgina and investigator Volokh are involved in the case.

The corpse of another victim of a maniac is found on the beach. Volgina exposes the inconsistency of the theories of the expert Safrazyan.

Volgina suggests that the strangler learned to embalm animals. The police manage to get through to a prostitute kidnapped by the killer.

The police discover a new victim, but the perpetrator has a different handwriting. Volgina is sure that the maniac was abused as a child.

Volgina gives the name of the strangler who attacked her. Volokh does not believe that the Troitsky case is connected with a series of murders in St. Petersburg.
