With just four months to go until the Kamata branch is scheduled to be closed unless it can meet its investment goal, a client approaches the bank about a hotel construction project worth billions of yen. Determined not to let this chance slip away, Kataoka goes to talk to Yokoyama to make sure the bank’s head office won’t interfere again but he is shocked by what Yokoyama tells him…

An article in a weekly magazine about the Kamata branch’s impending closure brings Kataoka and his staff an unexpected windfall in the form of several new high-value accounts. They are well on the way to meeting their investment goal when suddenly their customers begin defecting to the bank’s Haneda branch, and Kataoka suspects that his former boss has something to do with it…

A client seeking two billion yen in financing for a construction project turns out to be a fraudster. Fortunately for Kataoka and his staff, the man is caught before he can escape. Unfortunately, however, Yokoyama is still taking a hard line and says he will close the Kamata branch if they fall even one yen short of their ten-billion-yen target. Will they be able to pull off a miracle?

Kataoka is transferred to Mitsutomo’s headquarters after the Urata branch is shut down. Shortly afterward, the bank learns that the CEO of Maruhashi department store has been arrested for embezzlement. Bank director Yokoyama proposes an emergency restructuring plan for Maruhashi. But when an anonymous tipster inside the company makes a startling accusation, Kataoka has to try to find out the truth.

Kataoka has started to worry about the fate of his former coworkers at the defunct Kamata branch and to harbor misgiving about Yokoyama’s activities at the Nihonbashi branch. One day, Kataoka’s boss tells him that a favorite client of Yokoyama’s is suspected of financial fraud, and he asks him to discreetly look into the matter. But even Kataoka is surprised by what he uncovers!

Kataoka finally manages to obtain proof of Yokoyama’s financial shenanigans only to be betrayed by Fujita, who destroys the evidence. To make matters worse, the bank’s new partnership with a large foreign multinational sets off a wave of restructuring. But then a chance at redemption arrives from an unexpected quarter.

Yokoyama finally manages to claw his way up to vice-president of the bank. But when he learns that Kataoka and his friends are planning to publicly expose his illegal political contributions, he acts ruthlessly to stop them, setting up a final showdown. Will Kataoka’s indomitable spirit win the day?
