Minister Maarten Meinema insults a journalist, gets on a war with the press and has problems with his political assistant. A decision must be made on Dutch participation in a peacekeeping mission. Meinema doubts and comes into conflict with the Prime Minister.

Minister Meinema is still struggling with whether there should be Dutch military personnel on a peacekeeping mission. Educator Monique denies that she has committed an attack on the former American embassy as a student, but not everyone believes that. Meanwhile, Meinema must be tightly secured because of threats.

Meinema has to defend the broadcast of Dutch soldiers to Tazmenistan in the Chamber. Monique is struggling with her secret. The Iranian minister of BZ wants to visit the Netherlands, but Meinema and his staff are not waiting for that and try to stop it. Joeke makes a disastrous discovery.

Meinema reluctantly submits to group therapy in the context of his alcohol addiction. Louis is making frantic efforts to stop the visit of Iranian BZ's minister. The Dutch soldiers go to Tazmenistan and must be addressed by Meinema and his colleague from Defence. Helga Cremers still doesn't trust Monique and is looking for revenge.

Monique goes looking for her student friend from the past, but Helga Cremers also tries to track him down. In Tazmenistan, the rebels are increasingly advancing while Meinema's friend Vadzis is being held and used as a means of pressure on the government. In the Council of Ministers, one wonders whether the Dutch military is still safe.

The fate of his friend Vadzis weighs heavily on Meinema. The Dutch military is barely on mission as the discussion flares up or they need to be retrieved. Meinema is right in front of the Prime Minister. The visit of the Iranian minister of BZ seems inevitable and is becoming an increasing problem. The police are hunting the Toy Man.
