I bought five Volcano Lamps so no one else has to.

Well it seemed like a good idea. What’s up with Philips’ new Bluetooth Turntable and CD Player?

I've managed to acquire another forgotten/hidden format. Let's try it out.

Some things to consider when choosing a Lava lamp.

The Aurzen Zip is a Pico Projector that makes life awkward for itself by relying solely on Wireless connectivity when Sony showed how sockets and wires worked a lot better, ten years ago.

You asked so I bought. A look at three more Mathmos Lava Lamps. The Giant Rokit, new generation Neo and candle powered Mini Fireflow.

The Manya Cynus is not just a difficult product name to get past a spell checker - it's also a robotic chess playing arm. This was a Kickstarter in 2025. Most of the 'reviews' you'll find for this were adverts published to promote the Kickstarter campaign in September 2025. The one I *paid for* on Kickstarter turned up in February 2026 and so I'm now trying it out.

A briefcase that attended funerals.

The Sweetvinyl Sugar Cube range of HiFi components promise to remove unwanted noise from records in realtime, at the push of a button. Listen to the results for yourself.

Why (oh why) did I get this particular Amplifier and Speakers?

The Third Wheel. A look at what makes the Miniot Wheel 3 turntable different from every other record player sold today.

If you want a HiFi component Compact Disc player and an FM & DAB Radio that works with no fuss - it's all in the one box and it came out a decade ago. Fortunately it's still being sold.

Not every all-in-one mini music system is still worth picking up.

A QUICK look at a digital music playing lolly.

In 2023 Sony realised this weird little surround sound system that doesn't support any surround sound formats...

Whilst you could play CDs in a video disc player - you might not want to.

I ordered a new motorised wave machine from a company in India. I was warned it might be a scam. Here's what happened.

Using the right EQ for your music player can make a big (or small) difference.

By popular request I'm taking a look at these novelty mini 'record players'.

Four more novelty items.

In this intentionally meandering video I reminisce about my old JVC portable stereo as well as the music genre it introduced me to. I also find out what's on my old tapes.

Join me as I take an early look at the new 4K 120Hz Ultra-Short-Throw, home cinema projector from XGIMI - the Aura 3 Max.

In 1964 Rediffusion released an improved version of their Reditune background music system. It had longer playing cartridges, funkier music…and woodgrain.
