In fact, her love of casinos comes from her own father, who introduced her to the world of underground gambling dens when she was just a child. Emilia wants to help Aurora and stop her from continuing to gamble, so she met with Javier to ask him to forgive that gambling debt. Javier didn’t make things easy for her, and during a meeting at the “Cravo Vermelho,” he offered to trade the house for a marriage to Emilia. Antonio got drunk and caused a scene during the traditional Sunday family lunch. Clara feared that her husband’s episodes would return, just as they had when he was 20. The truth is that Aurora’s son has a problem that has nothing to do with his job as a prosecutor. However, her memory suddenly grew hazy, and everything went black just as she was supposed to be standing next to her husband. Distressed, Clara snapped out of her reverie and wondered if she was losing her mind. The moving truck outside the Márquez house was just a ploy by Javier to break Emilia’s resistance and force her to accept his marriage proposal. The two agreed to meet that afternoon, and Javier assured her it would be something special. Paula visited the hotel and, after a passionate encounter with the gambler, discovered that he was going to marry someone else.

Although Antonio showed up, he didn’t come alone. León accompanied him to put pressure on Javier’s father and keep him under control, so he wouldn’t say anything. The situation became tense, but both sides reached an agreement: they cannot allow their children to marry. Because of this compromise, Emilia is finally beginning to see her grandmother’s more manipulative side and has started to adopt an increasingly hostile attitude toward the matriarch. Of course, Aurora isn’t the type to tolerate disrespect, though she’s also not in a position to demand it from her granddaughter. In the middle of an argument, Javier and Andrea showed up to discuss the details of the wedding.

Antonio and León took certain precautions when they began drugging Clara. One of them was to film the men who slept with her to keep them from talking. Samuel found out about this, and with even more reason, wanted to remove the Márquez family from his life. He kicked out the doctor and the lawyer, and then spoke with Andrea and Javier. Clara found out that, that very afternoon, Emilia and Aurora had gone to look at wedding dresses. Obviously, she felt hurt at having been excluded from such an important moment and that her mother-in-law had usurped her role as a mother. She argued with Aurora, but instead of apologizing, Aurora lashed out at Clara, reminding her that she’s been living in her house for 30 years. Antonio also didn’t like the argument and blamed his wife for causing trouble. Under the pretext of mending the sisters’ relationship, Paula went to visit Emilia. According to her, one way to resolve things would be for Emi to talk to Nicolás before he disappeared, since her friend was deeply shaken after the breakup. The youngest Márquez sister went after her ex and kissed him, and Paula filmed the entire moment to prevent Javier from getting married.

Nicolás was thrilled by the kiss Emilia gave him. He thought that would be the moment they’d get back together and that her absurd engagement to Javier would be called off. But no. Clara was very distressed about having argued with Aurora, but Francesca made her realize that this could be an opportunity to leave that house and escape her mother-in-law’s control. Her words gave Clara the courage she needed, and she suggested to Antonio that they move in with her family so they could have a home of their own. But instead of finding support from her husband, he flatly refused to leave the house, he certainly wouldn’t move at this stage of his life. Roberto organized a family dinner to discuss this issue between Clara and Aurora, but his daughter-in-law didn’t show up. Instead, she decided to visit the Toledos. Because of the difficult time Nicolás is going through, Francesca prepared a special meal for her son, and they set aside some time to talk about life. There, they reminisced about how hard it was for the therapist to become a widow at age 25 and pregnant with a child who would never know his father, but how time had helped her heal those wounds.

The family dinner organized by Roberto was interrupted by Javier, who arrived determined to confront Emilia. He showed everyone the video of her kissing Nicolás, and Paula confirmed that it wasn’t a fake video created with artificial intelligence; she had recorded it herself. Javier was about to reveal the truth about the reasons behind his rushed marriage, and Emilia had to kiss him to avert disaster. For now, the situation has calmed down, but Toledo warned his girlfriend that this was the last time he would tolerate that kind of disrespect. The main problem is Samuel Toledo and his outbursts of anger. To that end, León already has a plan in mind to get him out of the way. Seeing Francesca drunk and getting too close to León sparked unexpected jealousy in Daniel. In fact, he waited until the therapist was home alone to demand an explanation about the party. Nicolás almost caught them, and Francesca realized the situation can’t go on like this. Daniel is much more immature than she imagined.

Antonio seeks out León to find out how his plan to get rid of Samuel is going. The gynecologist tells Antonio that everything is ready and that the plan will be carried out soon. That’s when Samuel—who was driving Clara in his car at that very moment—falls victim to a violent ambush. Clara had gone to talk to Samuel to apologize for everything that happened with León, saying that she considered him a brother. Meanwhile, Daniel arrived late once again at “Dona Aurora” because he had been with Francesca. Because of this, Aurora put an end to his tardiness and threatened him: if it happens again, she’ll have to fire him. Finally, Paula discovered a personal item belonging to her brother on Francesca’s bed and managed to remove it before Nicolás saw it.

Samuel decided to flee by car rather than surrender to the criminals who were threatening him with guns. While he was looking for a place to take shelter, Clara called the police, and thanks to her quick action, the officers arrived and confronted the assailants. Although they were unable to capture them, Samuel and Emilia’s mother emerged from the situation unharmed. León was frustrated by the failure of his plan and, with utter coldness, made it clear to Antonio that he harbors no affection for his wife. Paula found Daniel’s keys among Francesca’s sheets and quickly came to a conclusion: the two are having an affair. Without wasting any time, the young woman returned the keychain to the chef and hinted at her suspicions.

Andrea didn’t like Samuel’s behavior at all when he went to his room to be alone for a while. To her, this was just a sign that something is changing in her husband. After having a few too many drinks, Andrea went to “Dona Aurora” and heard Clara’s toast, praising Samuel’s courage for protecting her from the trap. Furious, Javier’s mother made a jealous scene against Clara, not caring that the Márquez family and her own son were present. With his registered gun in his pocket, Samuel went to León’s apartment, knowing that he was the only one who could have sent those criminals to chase him in a car. No matter how much Clara insisted that she had never looked at any man other than her husband, Andrea remained suspicious, since she doesn’t know her mother-in-law and Samuel has been acting strangely ever since he first saw her. Samuel, deeply embarrassed, went to pick up his wife at the restaurant, and once home, he confessed to Javier that, for the first time in years, he’d thought about separating. He’s been playing the role of husband and father for a long time, and it’s left him exhausted. Catalina learned to ride a bike with Nicolás, revealing to him that her parents never let her go out when she was a child. Javier was born very sick, and that made them extremely overprotective. Francesca ran into Cata at her house and decided to befriend the young woman to find out more about the Toledo family, since she didn’t like the way they treated Clara at all.

Ostensibly concerned about Clara after the incident with Andrea, he arrived unannounced, but revealed his true character as soon as he was alone with Antonio.

León went to the Márquez family home, determined to sort out his issues with Antonio, as he feels there is something more behind his lover’s coldness. The attack on Samuel, in which Clara found herself involved, created a rift between the two, to the point that the lawyer asked her not to go to lunch with the Toledo family. The next morning, Antonio went to Dr. Insulza’s apartment and said something unexpected after 30 years together, despite all the hardships: it would be best to take a break from the relationship. Clara visited Francesca because she needs her advice as a therapist. The night before, she couldn’t stop dreaming about Samuel and feels terribly guilty about it. In her dreams, she finds herself in an intimate situation with her father-in-law, feeling a way she’s never felt with her own husband. Francesca calmed her down and reminded her that lunch with the Toledos is a time to focus on Emilia, rather than giving in to such worries.

Andrea went to León’s office with the intention of flirting with him and getting revenge on Samuel. However, the doctor didn’t react to her advances the way she’d hoped. Furthermore, Dr. Insulza accompanied her to the lunch organized by Aurora, but no one showed the slightest interest in seeing them together. The controversy she wanted to stir up had no effect. Increasingly bothered by the situation, Andrea couldn’t take it anymore and pulled a bottle out of her purse to drink on the sly. Nicolás found the card that came with the flowers his mother had received. Since they’d never kept secrets from each other, he asked her directly what was going on; he’d noticed she’d been sad for days. Francesca hesitated to speak, but finally confessed to her son that she was seeing someone much younger than herself. However, she didn’t have the courage to say that this mysterious man was none other than her friend Daniel Márquez.

Andrea’s behavior had become unbearable, and Aurora felt relieved when the family dinner finally came to an end. She learned from Normita that Javier’s mother had brought a hidden bottle of alcohol, and that was the last straw. Of course, his oldest son found it very strange that his father wanted to separate. For years, he had put up with his mother’s jealousy and drinking problems. What had changed now? Samuel begged him to stay with Andrea for a few days to keep an eye on her and understand the seriousness of the situation. Feeling rejected and abandoned by her husband, Andrea wanted revenge and went to visit León, who was with Antonio at his apartment. Samuel asked his children to go pick up Andrea, who was completely out of control at León’s apartment. Daniel confronted Francesca for encouraging his mother to get involved in an affair and was very confused, not knowing what to do. Finally, he decided to turn to León, since his godfather had always been the person he confided in about his problems. He told León about the kiss between Clara and Samuel, though he didn’t want to reveal how he’d found out about it all. Dr. Insulza isn’t naive and managed to get the truth out of Daniel: he’d overheard his mother’s confession because he’d been hiding in Francesca’s bedroom. The two are in a relationship. Andrea showed up at the Márquez house to return the robe she’d taken from León’s apartment. Clara recognized it as a robe brought from Italy that she herself had given to Antonio as a gift. Daniel grew tired of seeing how close his mother, Clara, and Samuel were. And the last straw came when he found out that Andrea claimed to have seen Clara with Samuel in the same apartment, which triggered a fit of jealousy in her. So Daniel goes to his mother and, without caring that Francesca is there, confronts her and asks her to stay away from that man—without admitting that he has additional information, since he overheard them talking about Clara’s feelings for Samuel. Meanwhile, Aurora saves Antonio from Clara’s questions after Clara saw the bathrobe she had given her husband as a gift at León’s house. Javier talks with Emilia, telling his fiancée that he feels very guilty about Andrea’s addictions.

Prosecutor Domínguez has certain suspicions about Antonio because, as a cuckolded husband, he would have had the perfect motive to attack Clara—were it not for the fact that he only discovered her infidelity after the incident. Antonio is concerned about the direction the investigation is taking, and as soon as he could, he spoke with León about the blood on the oar. Prosecutor Domínguez’s visit to León’s apartment was very unpleasant for the doctor, who felt he was among the possible suspects in the crime against Clara. The police already know that Antonio and Samuel met at that same location, and according to Insulza, he had merely acted as a mediator between the two—a claim that didn’t quite convince the prosecutor. If it hadn’t been for an emergency call regarding Daniel’s serious collapse, the tense conversation might have continued. Emilia was shocked by her grandmother’s indifference. However, District Attorney Domínguez needed to speak with the businesswoman and went to the restaurant himself to question her about the night Clara disappeared. According to the testimony of one of the employees, Aurora had shaken Clara violently during the party, and she had to make up excuses to answer the district attorney’s questions. Daniel wanted to unburden himself to Francesca, but she was still so hurt by him that she decided not to tell him about her illness. Alone, with no one to confide in about the ordeal he was going through, he thought only of his mother and deeply regretted having treated her badly the last time they saw each other.

It is at that moment that Nicolás recalls Emilia’s words, as she had also asked him to work things out with Francesca. So he returns home and tries to rebuild his relationship with his mother.
